Reduce Stress with These Five Tips

We all know the negative effects stress can have on people, from headaches to heart attacks. It is critical that we learn how to reduce stress. When you are under stress the “fight-or-flight” response of your brain is activated. The antithesis of this fight-or-flight response is the relaxation response, which is the body’s way of calming itself down.

Reduce Stress with these 5 tips

5 Ways to Reduce Stress

1: Relaxation – Relax your body. Focus on each part of your body and relax. Start by your head (front, jaw) then go to your neck, shoulders, arms until you reach your toes.

2: Breathing Exercises – Breathe deeply and slowly through your nose. Do it in a 5 count in and 5 count out for a couple of minutes (about 12 breaths in and out).

This slows your heart rate, which calms you and activates neurochemical systems that calm your amygdala. By focusing on breathing, you can also clear out the nervous chatter of worries from your mind and reduce stress.

3. Meditation combined with yoga promotes physiological as well as mental calming. Let go of any tension and worry and focus on one thing at a time. You are here to receive and letting go!

4. Stretching combined with relaxation promotes an energized capacity to focus, combined with a feeling of relaxation. By stretching your muscle, you force or pump the used and oxygenated blood back into your heart and lungs for refueling. Stretching therefore promotes a refreshed brain, invigorates the muscles, and releases built-up tension to reduce stress.

5. Visualization (visual imagery) helps to cultivate a state of calmness and stillness. It is simple and so beneficial. Surround your body with Healing Bright Light and Positive Energy.

Real Life Results

It is proven beyond doubt that there is Mind – Body connection. Did you know that Olympic athletes close their eyes before the actual event, doing it mentally and then going ahead. One good author on the subject said that it happens twice – once in mind and second time on the physical plane. So visualize what you want to happen and it will help reduce stress!

Meditation and Prayer, self-hypnosis, visual imagery and relaxation techniques are methods to cultivate a state of calmness and stillness.

Use these exercises every day and enjoy a longer happier stress free life.
