How to reduce stress – while in confinement!
From the comfort of your home!
“The combination of diet, exercise, and the practice of stress reduction techniques can reverse blockages in coronary artery disease”. Indeed, in a study reported in The Lancet, the prestigious British medical journal, medical researchers found that “stress reduction was a necessary factor, more important than originally believed”.
We are today experiencing a period of higher stress than usual! What do you do to reduce the stress due to confinement, which for some means major shifts in our lives or businesses? How do you face challenges, whether it is anxiety/fears for your health or worse, the health of your loved ones? Some are facing stress of losing everything they have built!
All these emotional challenges are normal in today’s situation. You have no control over the situation, however what you can change is your mindset.
In these conditions, the survival part of your brain is fired up, it is the part of our brain that is designed to swing into action when we are in danger. It is designed to give us adrenaline, cortisol. Ask yourself, “What is my mood”? Fight, Flight or Freeze? (See below for further information). And during the same day you can shift from one to another!
What do you need to do? You need to move to the frontal cortex where we have all the thinking, the breakthrough ideas, the reasoning… The right lobe of your brain will enter into action to bring you the joy and peace you need to know that you are at the right place, at the right time, and you are engaging the right actions. It is how you make the connection with that “wisdom within you”, and how you bridge head and heart!
In another study of more than one thousand heart attack victims, researchers from Stanford University presented a report at the International Congress of Behavioral Medicine in Uppsala, Sweden. They found that anxiety, fearfulness, hostility, and anger are the psychological traits that predispose to second heart attacks. Interestingly, anxiety and fearfulness seem to be more harmful to women while hostility and anger are more harmful to men.
Our recommendation? Train yourself in relaxation, visualization, and imagery. Neurofeedback sessions will help you deepen these techniques. Neurofeedback sessions are used to help eliminate stress, tension, fears, phobias, and improve the quality of sleep in a holistic way. We have witnessed endless health ramifications reported by our clients.

Fight, Flight or Freeze Mode
- Are you arguing all the time with people around?
- Are you irritable?
- Are you short tempered with your kids/loved ones?
If you are in this type of mood, you act from the fight mode of your reptilian.
- Do you feel you want to cave?
- Do you stay in front of your TV and forget everything?
- Do you wish someone could take care of all your problems?
- Do you want to give up? Do you want to shut down your business or your life in general?
If you are in this mood, you act from the flight mode of your reptilian.
It feels like it will never end!
- Do you feel completely discouraged?
- You do not know what to do?
- Do you feel you cannot think?
- Do you feel hopeless?
- Do you feel you do not have the tools or capacity or talents to solve this unprecedented situation?
If you are in this mood, you are in the frozen mode of your reptilian.
You might move from one mode to another, but you are still acting from the survival (Reptilian) part or your brain!
